The biodynamic approach to Craniosacral Therapy is based on knowledge of the physical mechanism of cerebrospinal fluid that exists and functions within the body.

Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), which is clear and similar to blood plasma, surrounds the brain and spinal cord, offering protection, support, nutrition and waste removal.

William G. Sutherland, D.O., used the term "Breath of Life" to indicate the original life force of the human organism. This Breath of Life is an invisible element -- a force within the cerebrospinal fluid -- which contains an innate intelligence or potency.

As it moves through the CSF, the Breath of Life -- or potency -- also distributes throughout the cells of the body.

The practitioner uses knowledge of the body's physical functioning with cerebrospinal fluid, as well as knowledge of the movement of the Breath of Life, to facilitate the client's healing process.

This includes tracking the cerebrospinal fluid tide, facilitating stillpoints, and working with patterns of resistance to a full energetic expression within the core of the client's energy system.

Initially the client shares the most recent events, feelings and concerns in his/her life. This is followed by bodywork.

Typically, the bodywork contacts start with the feet, are followed by various head cradles, and conclude with a sacral contact (at the base of the spine). Other contacts may occur as the client's needs indicate during the session.

Clients report a sense of peace and centeredness, a feeling of deep healing occurring, and renewed energy.

The Craniosacral Therapy session averages 90 minutes in length. This includes time for bodywork and general discussion between the practitioner and the client.

Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday: daytime appointments
